VoIP: Non-Supported Hardware Policy
Article ID: 984
Front Range Internet Inc. (FRII) does not limit the equipment our clients use with their VoIP services. However, FRII will not extend Service Level Agreements or Technical Support on VoIP equipment not recommended by FRII.
FRII tests a variety of equipment for acceptable service levels within the current VoIP system. All hardware recommended by FRII has been proven to work within acceptable parameters and with predictable results. If a piece of hardware is not recommended by FRII it has either not been fully tested or it has not met the performance levels FRII requires.
A list of recommended equipment can be found here.
If a piece of hardware is not in the list it either did not pass the testing or has not been tested.
A request for test results or testing of specific hardware can be submitted to a FRII sales representative by emailing sales@frii.com
Once a piece of equipment has passed the rigorous tests put forth by FRII, the findings, features and basic troubleshooting of that equipment are documented. This documentation is used for training purposes so our support technicians can fully understand the hardware and the troubleshooting method.
When a piece of hardware does not pass testing, FRII can not ethically recommend it for use. Due to this commitment to high levels of performance, the hardware is marked with explanation of failure and no further training is required. Our support technicians are not required to know troubleshooting for unacceptable hardware.
